Arts Institute to present student initiative, 'Le Carnaval Des Animaux'

The University of South Carolina will present an interdisciplinary student production of French composer Camille Saint-Saens’ “Le Carnaval des Animaux” at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the School of Music recital hall.

The event is free and open to the public.

The program will feature an undergraduate chamber ensemble performing the 14 movements of Saint-Saens’ work, “Le Carnaval des Animaux.” Each movement represents a different animal and will be accompanied by student art and poetry, which also will be on display before the performance. Audience members will be given commemorative chapbooks containing reproductions of the works.

After the performance, a reception will be held for the public to meet the artists, musicians and poets. Contact Jesseca Smith at 803-777-4280 or at events@mozart.sc.edu for more information.
