Teegen to meet with Rock Hill area business leaders, alumni

Business leaders and University of South Carolina alumni in greater Rock Hill are invited to meet Dr. Hildy Teegen from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, and learn about the new strategic direction for the Moore School of Business.

Teegen, who began her tenure as dean of the Moore School last September, will discuss the school’s strategic direction, including providing thought leadership and solutions concerning sustainable enterprise and development. She will highlight other important issues for the school and discuss ways that the Moore School of Business will continue to serve critical needs through its world-class education and research in international business and its educational, research and outreach programming in South Carolina and beyond.

Host for the Rock Hill event is prominent alumnus and business leader Eddie Brown, chairman of the Piedmont region of Carolina First Bank. Similar events with Teegen will be held this spring in Florence, Myrtle Beach, Aiken, Augusta and Spartanburg.

Last fall, Teegen met with business leaders and alumni in Columbia, Greenville, Charleston, Charlotte, Atlanta, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Jacksonville, Fla.

Prior to being named dean of the top-ranked Moore School of Business, Teegen was director of the Center for International Business Education and Research and professor of international business and international affairs at George Washington University, where she had taught since 1996. She also taught at the College of William and Mary, the University of Texas at Austin, the Instituto Tecnológico Autonomo de Mexico in Mexico City and the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey.

Teegen earned her bachelor’s degree in Latin American studies and international business, as well as her doctorate in international business with a sub-specialty in marketing strategy and economic development, from the University of Texas at Austin.
