TRIO Programs to offer free financial-aid, tax-return workshop March 29

The University of South Carolina TRIO Programs will offer a financial-aid and tax return workshop Saturday, March 29.

The “Hands-On ” workshop will be held from 10 a.m. - noon at the Cecil Tillis Community Center on Simpkins Lane in Columbia.

Financial-aid experts and TRIO professionals will help college-bound students and their families with the financial-aid process. Volunteers will help families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and will provide information about financial-aid options and eligibility for grants and scholarships.

In addition, the professionals from the IRS Volunteer income Tax Assistance (VITA) will be on site to provide free tax-return preparation.
