Theater students recognized for leadership
Seven undergraduate theater students at the University of South Carolina have been awarded scholarships for leadership and contributions to theater productions.
The Undergraduate Outstanding Contribution Scholarship Award is given annually by the department of theatre and dance. The one-year scholarship, valued at $250 per semester, is awarded to students who have demonstrated leadership and made notable contributions to the department.
The 2008-09 recipients are Lee Gottschalk, a junior from Paducah, Ky; Martha Hearn, a South Carolina Honors College senior from Columbia; Mallory Morris, a South Carolina Honors College senior from Greer; Gabrielle Peterson, a South Carolina Honors College freshman from Lexington; William Renken, a South Carolina Honors College sophomore from Charleston; Kelly Renko, a junior from Sumter; and Alicia Tiemeyer, a sophomore from Lexington.
To be eligible, applicants must be full-time students, have at least a 2.5 GPA and be actively involved in the department’s production program.
