Top students awarded $20,000 Alumni Scholarships

The Carolina Alumni Association has announced 14 recipients of the $20,000 Alumni Scholarship to attend the University of South Carolina Columbia this fall.

Alumni scholars are recipients of one of the most prestigious scholarships at the university, with this year’s honorees having earned an average SAT score of 1422 and a grade-point average of 4.5.

The scholarships, valued at $5,000 per year, are funded by contributions from members of the Carolina Alumni Association. Started in 1980, the Alumni Scholarship Program has provided more than $8 million in direct support of some of the university’s brightest students.

“The Alumni Association is pleased to have played a role in bringing this amazing, talented group of students to our university,” said executive director Marsha Cole. “We’ll do everything we can to make sure they have a wonderful experience here.”

The scholarship is for students at the university’s Columbia campus and is renewable each year as long as a student maintains a 3.0 grade-point average.

More information about the Carolina Alumni Association scholarships can be found at www.MyCarolina.org/scholarships.
