University to host public-transportation forum Nov. 18
The University of South Carolina’s College of Engineering and Computing will present a forum on public transportation for Columbia at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, in Amoco Hall at the Swearingen Engineering Center on South Main Street.
The forum, which is free and open to the public, is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of South Carolina.
Among the topics to be addressed: economic and environmental implications of public transportation; government funding for a public-transportation system; and how the lack of public transportation will affect people who don’t drive.
Panelists will include Columbia Mayor Bob Coble; Susan Richards, a transportation consultant and the transportation director for the League of Women Voters of South Carolina; Deepal Eliatamby, president of Alliance Engineering; Tripp Gregory, vice president for human resources at Palmetto Health; and Sven Larson of the S.C. Policy Council. Charles Bierbauer, dean of the university’s College of Mass Communications and Information Studies, will be the moderator.
