University to hold annual Tigerburn Nov. 24
Tigerburn, the University of South Carolina’s annual pep rally before the Clemson football game, will take place at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, in the gravel lot at the corner of Greene and Gadsden streets, near the Colonial Life Arena.
The event, highlighted by the traditional torching of the student-designed and student-built Clemson tiger, is free and open to the public.
Carolina students, faculty, staff and Gamecock fans are encouraged to attend in preparation for the season-ending showdown and battle for bragging rights between the Gamecocks and the Clemson Tigers. This year’s game will be at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium Saturday, Nov. 29.
Tigerburn will feature Cocky and the Gamecock cheerleaders, the marching band, Homecoming Spurs and Struts winners, spirited students from the Dance Marathon morale committee and, of course, the tiger.
Standing nearly 20 feet tall, this year’s tiger has been designed and built by a team of students under the direction of Dr. Abdel Bayoumi, professor of mechanical engineering.
