MEDIA ADVISORY:
University to announce journalism teaching initiative

The University of South Carolina will make a significant announcement Monday, March 30, that will impact the teaching and learning of business and financial journalism at a time when financial and business stories dominate front pages and newscasts worldwide.

University officials will make the announcement at 2:30 p.m. in the Public Health Research Center auditorium, located at the corner of Assembly and College streets. Media interviews will take place at 2:15 p.m. in the atrium area outside the auditorium before the announcement. Parking for media will be available in the lot behind the building, accessible from College Street.

A public panel discussion on financial-news reporting will take place immediately after the announcement. It is part of I-Comm Week, an annual observance that spotlights the College of Mass Communications and Information Studies’ work through an array of lectures, workshops and discussions. Dean Charles Bierbauer will moderate the panel of professional business and financial journalists.

To coordinate coverage of the announcement, call Peggy Binette or Margaret Lamb at 803-777-5400.
