Mancke, Eleazer among speakers at May Carolina Weekend May 15 - 16

Naturalist Rudy Mancke and aging expert Dr. Paul Eleazer are among the popular speakers to be featured at this year’s May Carolina Weekend at the University of South Carolina May 15 – 16.

Hosted by the Carolina Alumni Association, May Carolina Weekend features a series of reunions, workshops, lectures, tours and receptions for the university’s alumni.

Alumni can register for the entire weekend or for particular events by going to the Web site www.MyCarolina.org/MayCarolina or by calling 803-777-4111. Most events are free, but registration is required.

Highlighted events include Eleazer, director of the School of Medicine’s geriatrics department, whose will discuss the challenges and opportunities of aging in today’s society at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, and Mancke, the state’s most famous naturalist, will discuss South Carolina’s natural world from the mountains to the sea at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Other weekend highlights include reunions and a party at the President’s House, a tour of the new Carolina baseball stadium and News-plex and talks on “Securing Your Home PC” “Alternative Fuels – A Business Perspective” and “Long Term Financial Planning.”
