Faculty to know...

The face of Carolina is changing. As large numbers of faculty retire and new faculty representing the spectrum of disciplines join the ranks, the pool of expert sources for reporters will expand. To help reporters get to know our faculty, we will highlight several faculty members each week. Create a file or visit the USC News Web site (http://uscnews.sc.edu) for additional experts and news items.

Meet three USC faculty members in the marketing department of the Moore School of Business:

Rebecca Naylor

Dr. Rebecca W. Naylor, an assistant professor who joined the faculty this fall, is an expert in consumer behavior and judgment and decision making and the role emotion plays in both. Her research has examined topics such as consumers' emotional responses to promotions and the impact that consumers' intuitions (e.g., that unhealthy equals tasty) have on choice and purchase behavior. Naylor's research has appeared in journals such as the Journal of Marketing and the Journal of Consumer Psychology.

David Crockett

Dr. David K. Crockett is an assistant professor who specializes in consumer behavior and social inequality. His research centers on class, gender and racial inequality in the marketplace and addresses consumer, managerial and public-policy initiatives designed to alleviate inequality. His research studies, which have included ones on African-American consumer behavior and political beliefs, have been published in the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, and the Journal of Macromarketing.

Stacy Wood

Dr. Stacy L. Wood is an associate professor whose research focuses on consumer behavior and change. Specifically, Wood examines how consumers react and adapt to change or innovation, which includes how people process new product information and how they react emotionally to new innovations and trends. Her studies have applied these notions to the adoption of high-tech products, inter-generational influence in adopting innovation and how women professionals who use technology are perceived in terms of competence. Wood's work has appeared in top journals, including the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing and Journal of Consumer Psychology.
