Faculty to know...
The face of Carolina is changing. As large numbers of faculty retire and new faculty representing the spectrum of disciplines join the ranks, the pool of expert sources for reporters will expand. To help reporters get to know our faculty, we will highlight several faculty members each week. Meet three of USC's nursing faculty:
Dr. Ken Phillips, associate professor of nursing, studies and researches topics related to stress management, sleep quality, HIV and AIDS and the use of acupuncture to relieve the symptoms of diseases, including cancer and HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Kathleen Scharer, associate professor of nursing and interim associate dean for research, is an expert on child and adolescent psychiatric nursing. Her research interests include nurse-parent relationships in child psychiatric inpatient setting and mental health promotion in schools.
Lydia Zager associate director of the Center for Nursing Leadership, is retired from the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. Her expertise includes nursing leadership and leadership development, medical-surgical nursing and cardiovascular health.
