Where they've landed ...
A look at some of the members of the Class of 2007, where they've been, and where they're going.
Name: Meghan Hughes
Hometown: Anderson
High School: T.L. Hanna High School
Major: public relations, with a minor in political science

"I met all my best friends at the University of South Carolina," said South Carolina Honors College senior Meghan Hughes, a former student body president of her high school.

"The friendships I have made here have shaped who I am as a person," said Hughes, who made many friends as a first-year student serving on freshman council. "We challenge and learn from one another, and we adopt one another's strengths. I know I will stay close to them after graduation."

Hughes is a leader. She organized the first conference for the South Carolina Student Association, a statewide student advocacy group. She served on the executive committee of Dance Marathon and was student government's liaison with the S.C. Commission on Higher Education. She was a residence hall adviser in South Tower, a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, Omicron Delta Kappa honor society and Alpha Lambda Delta leadership organization.

She also participated in the university's Washington Semester Program and interned at the South Carolina Statehouse, two experiences she says prepared her for the challenge of working with U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham as the deputy finance director in his campaign office in Columbia.

"My leadership role at the university is what has prepared me to step into a professional role," said Hughes. "I've learned how government works and about fund raising. I'm very fortunate and blessed that I got involved in organizations that prepared me beyond my classroom experiences."

With so much on her plate, what did Hughes do for fun?

"I'm a tour guide for American by Foot," Hughes said. "I've been giving the Ghosts and Legends Tour in Columbia for the past two years. It's really fun."
