Economist can discuss impact of Fed rate cut
The Federal Reserve lowered interest rates to 4.5 percent. Moore School research economist Dr. Doug Woodward is available Thursday, Nov. 1 from noon - 2 p.m. to discuss the impact of the fed rate cut for South Carolina, the region and nation. Woodward will present his economic forecast for 2008 at the annual Economic Outlook Conference, which will be held in early December.

Study examines availability of healthy foods in rural areas
A University of South Carolina study on the problems that people living in rural areas have in finding healthy foods will be released Thursday, Nov. 1.
Dr. Angela Liese, a researcher in the Arnold School of Public Health, will be available by appointment to discuss the study, which examined the “nutritional environment” of a rural area in the Palmetto State. The findings are being published in the November issue of the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.
