University to announce grant for alternative, complementary medicine
The University of South Carolina will announce a major grant from the National Institutes of Health for the study of complementary and alternative medicine. Dr. Prakash Nagarkatti and Dr. Mitzi Nagarkatti will be available from 10:30a.m. – noon. Thursday, Oct. 11, to discuss the grant and their research which could have implications for the treatment of multiple sclerosis, hepatitis and colitis.
The media availability will be in Room C5, located on the second floor of Building 1 at the School of Medicine on Garners Ferry Road (adjacent to the Dorn VA Medical Center). The laboratory setting offers good visuals for media.

Sport-entertainment expert can discuss impact of State Fair
Tom Regan, chair of the University of South Carolina’s department of sport and entertainment management, can discuss the economic impact of the S.C. State Fair to the city of Columbia. Regan will be available for interviews from 8 – 10 a.m. Thursday through Friday.
