Law conference to examine coastal development, climate change
The morass of laws surrounding coastal development and environmental protection will be the subject of a national environmental-law conference at the University of South Carolina Thursday and Friday, Sept. 20 - 21. “Balancing Private & Public Rights in the Coastal Zone in the Era of Climate Change: The Fifteenth Anniversary of Lucas v. South Carolina Coastal Council” will examine a wide range of legal and policy issues related to modern coastal development, especially in light of the impending environmental effects of global warming. Some of the nation’s top academicians and practitioners, as well as experts in environmental sciences, will attend.

University to announce new scholarship program Sept. 20
University of South Carolina officials will announce a scholarship program that is the first of its kind for any college or university in the state at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20. The event will be held on the patio behind the Osborne Administration Building.
Parking designated for media will be available in the “C” lot, accessible via Pendleton Street, between Marion and Sumter streets.
