Ring Ceremony April 15 first of traditions leading to graduation

In 1999, the University of South Carolina adopted an official ring to unify students in the traditions and spirit of Carolina and to signify students’ affiliation with the university. Graduating seniors convene on the historic Horseshoe each fall and spring to receive their rings from the president of the university.

The annual Ring Ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, on the historic Horseshoe. President Andrew Sorensen and Garrett Humphries, chairman of the Young Alumni Council, will address members of the senior class and present them with their rings. More than 360 students are expected to participate.

The event offers broadcast and print media excellent visual opportunities.

To arrange coverage or interviews, contact Peggy Binette or Margaret Lamb, 803-777-5400.
