Energy expert can clear gas price confusion for consumers
Confused about what is driving gas prices higher and higher? You’re not alone.
Pat DeMouy, who teaches management, energy technologies and sustainability at the Moore School of Business, will be available Wednesday and Thursday and Friday morning to discuss the multiple factors affecting gas prices and what South Carolina consumers need to know to become more gasoline and energy savvy. DeMouy coaches Moore School student competition teams, working with students to simplify complicated energy issues for general audiences.
DeMouy says key factors driving U.S. gas prices include a weaker U.S. dollar, oil being traded as a commodity more for money than for use in today’s markets, an aging U.S. oil refinery system running at capacity and an explosion of automobile use in China.
To interview DeMouy, call Peggy Binette at 803-777-5400.
