Journalism experts can discuss declines in newspaper circulation
Circulation of the nation’s top newspapers continues to decline, according to a report released this week. Only the Wall Street Journal and USA TODAY saw slight increases, with weekday and weekend circulation dropping by more than 3.6 percent. The New York Times’ Sunday circulation dropped by more than 9 percent.
Doug Fisher and Sid Bedingfield, faculty members in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, are available Tuesday, April 29, to discuss the impact of this latest round of declines for newspapers, as more people are reportedly flocking to the Internet for news.
Fisher, a former bureau chief for the Associated Press, and Bedingfield, former head of CNN’s U.S. network, are experts in news-media trends and the impact of new media.
To arrange interviews, call Peggy Binette at 803-777-5400.
