High-school students taking white-coat adventures
High-school students from around the state are at the University of South Carolina this week for a white-coat adventure into the worlds of pharmacy and medicine as part of the Carolina Master Scholars Adventure Series. The camp, which runs through Friday, June 13, offers great story and visual opportunities. Lab sessions from 1:15 – 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, are particularly visual.
Adventures in Pharmacy: Students will learn the essentials about diabetes, including how to take a blood-pressure reading and assess sugar levels.
Adventures in Medicine: Students will dissect the brain and spinal cord.
Carolina Master Scholars Adventure Series camps, which run weekly through July, also include ones in journalism, law, marine science, computer gaming, culinary arts, U.S/China exchange, exercise science, writing and robotics.
To coordinate coverage of the Carolina Master Scholars Adventures in pharmacy and medicine, call Karen Petit at 803-777-5400.
