University alumni head to Statehouse for 5th annual Carolina Day

University of South Carolina alumni will head to the Statehouse at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, to meet with elected officials and discuss the importance of public support for public higher education in South Carolina. The event marks the fifth annual Carolina Day at the Statehouse.

After meeting with officials, alumni will hear from President Andrew Sorensen at a noon luncheon at the Capital City Club. The event is an outreach effort of the Carolina Action Network (CAN), an advocacy group comprising university alumni and friends who want to ensure that the state’s flagship university continues to receive the funding necessary to provide a quality education for its students. Participation in Carolina Day has steadily increased as more alumni learn about the advocacy project and the Carolina Action Network. More than 300 alumni from the state’s 46 counties participated last year.

Call the Office of Media Relations at 803-777-5400 to coordinate coverage.
