Pair of university’s top lectureships to be held March 27

The University of South Carolina will host two of its most prestigious lectureships Thursday, March 27: the Robert Smalls Lecture and the Nadine Beacham and Charlton F. Hall Sr. Lectureship in New Testament Studies and Early Christianity.

University civil rights pioneer and historian Dr. Cleveland Sellers will deliver the Robert Smalls Lecture at 7 p.m. in Belk Auditorium in the Moore School of Business. His talk will address the sacrifices of many during the civil-rights movement.

Well-known writer, speaker and Bible scholar Ben Witherington III will deliver the 13th annual Hall Lecture at 8 p.m. in the university’s Russell House Ballroom. Witherington will tackle modern images and interpretations of Jesus, with examples ranging from the DaVinci theories to new-age programs on satellite radio.

To coordinate coverage, call Peggy Binette at 803-777-5400.
