ATTENTION ...... Metro, Education and Broadcast Editors: LIFE, HOPE and Palmetto Fellows to be honored May 12 The S.C. Commission on Higher Education is honoring this year’s class of LIFE and S.C. HOPE Scholars and Palmetto Fellows across the state. The Midlands event will take place at 3 p.m. Monday, May 12, on the University of South Carolina’s historic Horseshoe. S.C. Sen. John Courson, CHE Executive Director Dr. Garrison Walters and members of the commission will honor area students. The event Is part of National Scholarship Month, which has been celebrated In South Carolina since 2003 to honor scholarship recipients, thank members of the General Assembly for their support of state scholarships and grant programs and to raise awareness of the financial needs that many students have in accessing post-secondary education.
