THE NEW ENGINEERS: Geiger count is three for Lexington family

Name: Joshua Geiger
Hometown: Lexington
Year: Senior
Major: Mechanical engineering
High School: Lexington High School

Geiger, Geiger and Geiger. It could be the name of a future engineering firm.

Senior Joshua Geiger is one-third of the Geiger brothers who chose engineering majors. His twin brother Joey is studying civil engineering in the College of Engineering and Computing. They've taken classes together, but they've also benefitted from the guidance of older brother John Geiger, who recently graduated from the university with a degree in civil engineering.

Joshua said he always knew he would go into engineering, and he chose mechanical engineering because of the many opportunities that the major would give him.

"Although engineering is a field that required a lot of study time, you can succeed if you're willing to commit the time," he said.

And Joshua should know. In addition to enjoying Carolina's football games, he was a member of the Carolina Crew rowing team for two semesters and works weekends at Eagle Aviation at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.
